Named after the creator god Pachacamac, the nearly 600-hectare site drew pilgrims who came to worship and bury their dead. The Incas rule over massively varied terrain, made up of large areas of jungle, desert and rugged highlands. Inca believed Inti was the son of Viracocha. The Incan rule said, “It Is not right that the children of the plebeians [commoners] should be taught knowledge, lest the lower classes rise up and grow arrogant and bring down the republic [empire]: it is enough that they learn the trades of their fathers.” The parents gave most of the knowledge that was necessary.
