If danger threatens a spider in its web, it can drop from the web on its dragline and hide in the grass. The placement of the web allows different spiders to trap different insects in the same area. Spiderlings (baby spiders) climb to the top of an object or plant and let out silk. The Atrax and Phoneutria spiders, which are also capable of killing people, both average around 2.5 cm. or one inch, and even the Widow spiders are large enough to be easily noticed. It is indeed a very venomous and dangerous spider, but it is definitely not an aggressive spider, and it only bites when threatened.
